Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 27, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Mountain Gu (“the App”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

1. What Mountain Gu is

Mountain Gu is a free, informational planning tool for organizing mountain climbing trips. It helps you build a gear checklist, record climb details and an itinerary, and plan meals and water intake. It is a passive record-keeping and organizational aid — it does not assess, recommend, endorse, or validate any specific climb, route, or activity as safe or appropriate, and nothing in the App should be read as a suggestion or instruction to undertake any climb. It is provided for personal, non-commercial use.

2. Not professional advice — informational only

All content the App generates or displays — gear checklist suggestions, computed itinerary durations, water/meal estimates, or any other output — is generic, template-based informational content only. It is not mountaineering, medical, safety, meteorological, or any other form of professional advice. It does not account for your specific fitness level, experience, the actual condition of any trail or mountain, current weather, or any other real-world factor. It is not a substitute for your own research, training, judgment, official forecasts, trail conditions, permits, or guidance from qualified guides, rangers, or local authorities.

3. Assumption of risk

Mountain climbing carries inherent and significant risk, including risk of serious injury or death, independent of any tool used to plan it.

You acknowledge and agree that:

4. Your data

The App stores the information you enter (gear checks, climb details, meal plans) locally in your browser only — see our Privacy Policy for details. You are responsible for backing up anything important, for example using the Export feature, since clearing your browser data or switching devices will remove locally saved trips.

5. Acceptable use

6. Intellectual property

The App's design, branding, logo, and code are owned by the developers, Benjamin Joseph Fausto and Rhea Grace Fausto, unless otherwise noted. The content you enter into the App (your trip details, notes, etc.) remains yours.

7. No warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that any computed value, suggestion, or generated content is correct, current, or suitable for your specific trip.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the developers of Mountain Gu be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including but not limited to personal injury, death, property loss, or any harm arising during or related to an actual climbing trip — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the App, or your reliance on any content it generates, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Because the App is provided free of charge, the developers' total aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to use it, which is zero (US$0 / ₱0).

9. Advertising (future)

We may introduce advertising (e.g. Google AdSense) to support the App in the future. If so, these Terms and the Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect that, including any applicable third-party terms.

10. Changes to the App or these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App, or update these Terms, at any time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

12. Contact
